Parliamentary State Secretaries
The parliamentary state secretaries help the minister carry out his duties. They are elected members of the German Bundestag. They work to maintain good relations with the Bundestag and Bundesrat and their committees. They also maintain contact with the political groups in the Bundestag, their working groups, and the political parties.
The federal minister decides which tasks to delegate to the parliamentary state secretaries. The parliamentary state secretaries can represent the federal minister in these task areas to the Bundestag and the Bundesrat and in meetings of the Federal Government. There is a special relationship of trust between the parliamentary state secretaries and the federal minister.
