Artificial intelligence (AI) will be one of the key factors of future growth and wealth. We want to develop Germany and Europe into a leading AI location and, thus, ensure future competitiveness. In this context, we focus on developing and using trustworthy and potent AI in a responsible way.

Clear rules

We want clear and understandable rules for AI. That also includes not slowing down innovation through over-regulation. This is why we promote reforming the European AI Act to reduce bureaucracy for businesses and startups.
Encouraging innovation

In Germany, we implement the AI Act in the most innovation-friendly way possible. We establish a national AI supervision that encourages innovation instead of preventing it. As a central point of contact, it offers clear and understandable rules as well as counselling for businesses and research institutions.
The state as a trailblazer

The state must be a pioneer of AI use, for example automated generation of administrative decisions or public services that require no application.
Efficient administration

We want to modernise our public authorities by meeting central challenges with innovative solutions, turn AI into usable digital assistance and make processes more efficient.
Room for experiments

Businesses need safe testing areas and room for experiments where new AI applications can be tried in real-life conditions.
Focus on safety

When developing key technologies, we support social and economical sustainability as well as AI safety.
Sovereign and independent

We strive for AI development that is based on European core values, sovereign and independent from global monopolies.

Establishing AI responsibly

AI affects all areas of our lives. We develop measures to direct this transition and to implement it based on sustainability, the common good and responsibility.

Artificial intelligence – Results achieved in 2025

Together with Hamburg, we start an application and approval platform – we initiate an agentic AI for the approval of connections to the hydrogen core network as a blueprint for the future.
A sovereign AI cloud base platform is tendered; it is to be a central element of the Deutschland-Stack.
An AI service desk is launched at the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). It offers advisory services to companies on issues related to the EU’s AI regulations.
